Physical Therapy

Physical/ Manual therapy involves skilled hands-on treatment intended to mobilize soft tissues and joints for the purpose of increasing range of motion, decreasing pain, and improving muscle length and strength.

An initial evaluation includes taking a thorough medical history, assessing general body and specific joint range of motion, flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination as well as examining posture and body mechanics.  An initial evaluation can also include hands-on treatment, a creation of an exercise program and the establishment of goals for therapy.

Follow-up sessions include a brief reassessment, manual therapy, and progression of your home exercise program.

Inhabiting our bodies often means navigating pain and discomfort. I am fascinated with the body’s
ability to heal when given a path of knowledge and ease of movement-this fascination has fostered
my career as a physical therapist. I hope to oƯer partnership and counsel as you work towards an
enhanced quality of life and well-being.
My journey in physical therapy guided me to a specialization in orthopedics with a focus on manual
therapy. I graduated from Towson University in 1990 with a degree in physical education and a
concentration in athletic training. I worked in sports medicine for a year before returning to physical
therapy school at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where I graduated with honors in 1993.
During my 30 years in the field, I’ve worked in an extensive variety of settings, including outpatient,

home health, a comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation unit, a cardiac intensive care unit and step-
down unit, and a general medical surgical unit. I enjoy educating patients on injury prevention,

posture retraining, and body mechanics; I provide an easy-to-follow home program to gain
flexibility, strength, and balance. If you are a surgical candidate, I can help you to best prepare your
body and your home environment for your upcoming procedure. Whether you strive to return to a
specific activity, improve your sleep, maximize your exercise program, and/or decrease your pain, I
can assist you in reaching your goals.
I am committed to guiding patients along their personal healing path and connecting them with
practitioners who can best support their health goals. After decades of working as a physical
therapist in the Baltimore area, I have a significant network of practitioners in various health
specialties from which to consult.
When I’m not treating patients, you can find me spending time with my husband, two daughters and
two furry kitties in our Catonsville home. I adore gardening, crafting, and hosting tea parties.
